Day 10

So I get up today hoping to stay and reenergize. I go up to the office area and talk with some of the residents and they give me some advice. They liked the quest (but wouldn’t do it themselves), one guy said he read a book about a gentleman who went from Nova Socia to Texas. He did it in a small boat. He hadn’t heard of someone attempting it in a kayak. Most of those I have spoken with though, thought doing the ICW in a small powered vessal would be fun (Muriel a afformation to Frank).

So the office opens and I am informed that marinas in Florida don’t allow tent camping. I had to take it down and go. So, go I did. Since I got a late start I only went 10 to 12 miles. You find out how much you got in the tank when things like this happens. Luckily the wind was light out of the SSW and helped some. There is a string of islands I could use as wind breaks because in some of this area it is miles wide. Wind can kick up small waves when it has that expanse. Got to my destination (a small boat ramp) and opted to go out to one of the islands for the night. The pics here are my setup and my sights. Not bad. Welk it will be an 18 mile day tomorrow if the winds are favorable. Then another 18 on Thurs to get to my cousins in Melbourne Beach. Good night all.

  1. Looks serene. I love the beach, sunsets and the sound of the ocean so calming . You got some of that. Proud of you every day big brother- challenging yourself and setting off on this adventure. From rock climbing, cliff hanging /hugger in cobleskill to the northern remote canoe trips I heard the stories and see it in your eyes and hear it in your voice, the true love in your heart for these adventures. Be safe, rest when you need it. An Incredible journey – may you have light winds supporting/carrying you up the waterways . Love you ! Safe journeys!
