Hi everyone, and thanks for following. I have decided to give the ICW trip one more go but more on that in the next post. Here I want to welcome the folks that are new to this blog and let “all y’all” (pretty good southern for a Yankee, huh) know what I have been up to.
First off, you should have seen my March post of paddling the ICW – Dismal Swamp canal. That is a fantastic float, but knowing the bugs there I would do it in the shoulder seasons, rather than during bug season. Then during the last week of Sept. ’23 I went to Maine and paddled a section of the NFCT (Northern Forrest Canoe Trail). The Allagash was a great trip, high water and gorgeous weather. I did that as a solo trip and had the best time. The trees were starting to change color which added to the scenery. The Allagash runs north and ends in the Saint Johns river, which is the northern border of Maine and Canada.
I would suggest everyone try this float, fishing is great, and you can choose how challenging you want to make it. I got in the water after the white water (Umsaskis Lake), since I prefer to have a partner for that, so my trip was easy and relaxing. I hope to get pictures of that trip up and available soon.
Stay tuned for the next post regarding my restart of my ICW trip.
