Contrasting days work

Wednesday was a beautiful day, with 10mph head wind, and the tide against me at the end of the day. So no 20 miles that I had hoped. I did get 15 by paddling (and resting 3 times) for 7.5 hours. It was tough and I was exhausted.

The scenery is really nice, nice homes not too big, broken up by open space. The bird life is still very diverse, the plant life not as diverse. I did see two turtles during the paddle, one was quite close and didn’t notice me.

Once I got dinner and setup I went right to bed.

Today I left my last site and went past a small stream and there were three wild hogs on the shore (pic below), also saw two more turtles. I couldn’t have planned today any better than it happened. I started on a falling tide which was in my favor. Like the other day the tide changed as I reached the first inlet and thus the rising tide was still with me. I had a second inlet to get to, so the tide did turn against me half way there. Luckily it was near peak so once it changed it pulled me right to my destination, St Augustine 20 miles. Where I got to the Comachee Harbor marina and the Inn at Comachee harbor. My kayak is in a boat slip, and I am at the inn for two nights.

Let me tell you my experience with marinas in Florida has mot been favorable. However, let me tell you the marina and the inn folks couldn’t have been nicer. They were very accommodating and I can’t say enough about them, they were happy to help me.

Thanks for following me and your support.
