Day 3 and 4
Monday we traveled to Palmyra lock #30. A real nice little dockage; power, showers and a small town with lots of museums. It has been quiet but not alot to see or report on. In and out of light rain and a bit of wind in our face. Just a relaxing day boating, drinking tea

Erie Canal day 2
Sunday (oops had to coreect this from Saturday) night was a wet one. We got up fairly early but took our time starting the day, 9AM-ish and we are off. Rain has let up for now. We traversed the next two locks in short order and like pros. It really went smooth, and Peg is

Muses – Facts and stuff
I am going to start this post off explaining what this trip meant – the why if you will. I like to trek and I feel very comfortable in fresh water. I wanted a challenge so I looked at the ICW. Of course a salt water trip added the challenge of, the corrosiveness of salt

This brought back so many memories of my first trip down – as soon as my older brother and I were old enough – middle school – my Dad fulfilled his lifelong dream of paddling the Allagash – we put it in on one of the upper lakes. First memories are us all sleeping under one tarp – no tent – waking up with 1000 mosquitoes perched right over our faces. And also catching dozens of brook trout into the evening on what became bare hooks – at a stream coming in. While we were dragged on this of course I ended up with several boats, doing tons of whitewater and canoe trips through out my life – and now have the light Souris River kevlar/fiberglass 17 so I can keep going alone in my old age – now 71. Ended up on one of my parents 3 week arctic trips before grad school back in 1977. Every time my Dad saw another person on a trip in Maine he would go 100 miles further north and that’s how he got to the arctic. My older sister and husband have continued to do dozens of them.
