More Dublin and our return home, Sept 16th, 17th & 18th.
I am finishing this blog from home, since we were busy and internet access was slow at the Air BnB. Sept 16th: Peg and I are not city people, we appreciate them but prefer more open, less populated areas. That said we enjoyed a day visiting Dublin proper, using the same bus tour we used…

Ireland – Dublin to be exact.
Prior to our Taxi ride Peg had booked us on a tour of the Dublin outskirts. We went to … you guessed it, gardens and to some unique places outside of Dublin. We saw horses, cows, sheep, heather, heath, boggs and some very nice little towns. It was a very enjoyable day exploring. We had…

Day 10 & 11 – Sept 13th & 14th
Today it is up early and get started, we have an appointment at the Falkirk Wheel we don’t want to miss. The day is just wonderful, blue skies and the water is a mirror. This what I love about being on the water, great weather and still waters. Getting hung on the cill is a…

Day 9 – Sept 12th.
Today is an easy travel day, back to Linlithgow. I remembered some fun things I just didn’t get a picture of on the way up, so I kept an eye out for them. We docked in Linlithgow, went on a walk and had dinner at Mason Belles Kitchen. The food was wonderful and the service…

Day 8 – Sept. 11th Starting the return trip
So our tour time is coming to an end, the boat needs to be back in Falkirk Monday morning. Since we travel so fast (most walkers and all joggers outpace us) it is time to start back. Since this is a repeat of the getting there I am not taking many pictures. Just things I…

Days 5, 6 & 7 – Lots to catch up on
This is a long post – lots of pictures and few words. I hope you enjoy. A few things you learn on a boat of this size, one it is tight quarters; everyone is on the same (or very close) schedule; and your electrical connections are limited. For one thing Europe is not AC but…

This brought back so many memories of my first trip down – as soon as my older brother and I were old enough – middle school – my Dad fulfilled his lifelong dream of paddling the Allagash – we put it in on one of the upper lakes. First memories are us all sleeping under one tarp – no tent – waking up with 1000 mosquitoes perched right over our faces. And also catching dozens of brook trout into the evening on what became bare hooks – at a stream coming in. While we were dragged on this of course I ended up with several boats, doing tons of whitewater and canoe trips through out my life – and now have the light Souris River kevlar/fiberglass 17 so I can keep going alone in my old age – now 71. Ended up on one of my parents 3 week arctic trips before grad school back in 1977. Every time my Dad saw another person on a trip in Maine he would go 100 miles further north and that’s how he got to the arctic. My older sister and husband have continued to do dozens of them.
